Angelique's twin bucks

Daisy/Suzette

Wednesday April 22nd I traveled northeast about an hour and purchased a four month old Jersey calf named Daisy. She is coming home next Thursday, and I'm quite excited about her. Her mother had a very nice udder and personality, plus the calf is naturally polled. I would like to rename her Suzette for her owner.

Mary and May

Our Nubian doe Hyacinth had her illicit crossbred twin doe kids April 22nd midmorning. I hadn't intended to breed her until next year, she is a yearling, but she had an unplanned rendevouz with a young Saanen buck. Fortunately she did not have any kidding problems - I was worried about it. I had been wanting to do a recorded grade cross between the Nubian and Saanens, but had't conciously made the decision yet! Anyway we got a pure white Saanen looking kid with Nubian ears....that's Mary. The second twin was an intersting tricolored Nubian looking kid with Saanen ears...that's May.

I am milking four does with a milker. I am trying to place the four bottle bucks from Skittles and Angelique so I can retain more milk.

"I'm scared!"

Anabel and Abby

I am milking Anabel once a day and averaging just under 2 gallons with the calf Abby on her fulltime. If I ever want more milk I will separate the two. Right now Abby comes in at milking to help with let down, but I'm not sure it's working because Anabel's back two quarters are slowwww! Abby is 5 1/2 weeks now and weighing 180lb according to the tape. She looks more Dexter than Jersey to me, but either way is very cute.

Isabel

Brought Isabel home from Sulphur Springs on April 10, 2009. Good temperament. Checked out healthy by the vet, but unbred at age four years. Gave her a lutalyse injection and saw her go into heat on April 21st with bull King in attendance. Need to check back on May 12th to see if I observe a second heat. (Mairead injected at same time, but no sign of heat, need to check her April 25-27th .)

This is from just two quarters...mostly back right which was huge and let down SO SLOW. Looks like calf enjoyed ghe front and back left quarters today. Think it took so long because Anabel doesnt like going in line after the goats!

Goat milk. Pasteurized and separated last night and tonights.

Dead plums from late frost. Counted 15 out of 33 blakberries showing life...mostly ouchita.

Apr 17th. First night with goat milker on snowflake and maggie.
